Chesapeake & Delaware's Expands NJ Network with DRR Short Line Start-Up

Jamesburg, NJ - Starting July 1, 2022, the Chesapeake & Delaware LLC began operations over the formerly Conrail operated Southern and Freehold branches. Currently, the Southern branch originates in Red Bank, NJ where cars are interchanged with Conrail via NJTransit. The line operates between Red Bank and Lakewood serving several customers. The Freehold branch originates in Jamesburg, NJ where cars are interchanged with Conrail via the Amboy Secondary. The line operates between Jamesburg and Freehold. Assuming operations of these railroads enables the C&D to extend its reach into South Jersey and the surrounding communities, allowing for continued expansion and the potential for new business opportunities. Since assuming operations, the C&D has invested heavily into the track infrastructure to ensure railcars transported across both railroads make it to their assigned destinations both safely and efficiently. In addition to track work, the C&D is working closely with the NJDOT to facilitate crossing rebuilds and upgrades across both railroads. The C&D is looking forward to serving its towns and communities which provide sustainability and economic expansion.
